THE LADY AND THE GLASS OF WATER
The Pastor asked why and she said she is tired of women gossiping about other members, men who are hypocrites, choir members who are living in sins and people pinging on their phones during services etc.
The Pastor replied ‘OK. But before you go, do me a favour: take a full glass of water and walk around the church three times without spilling a drop on the ground.
Afterward, you can leave the church if you desire.’
The lady took the glass of water and walked three times around the church and came back to the Pastor, ready to leave.
The Pastor asked whether she saw people gossiping, people who are not living right and those who are hypocrites, while she was walking around the church with a cup of water in her hand.
‘No.’ The lady replied.
‘You know why?’ asked the Pastor.
‘No.’ replied the lady again.
‘You focused on the glass of water to ensure you didn’t stumble and spill any water. It is the same with our lives. When we keep our eyes on Jesus, and focus on our walk with him, we don’t have time to see the mistakes and shortcomings of others."
Go to any church, and you will definitely find things to complain about.
A church is made up of people, not angels, and people are not perfect.
Only Jesus can set the perfect example, so let’s focus on Him!
Let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith.
