WHY THE NAME OF JESUS IS SO POWERFUL PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME
Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth ( Philippians 2:9-10 ).
When we talk about praying in the Name of Jesus, and using that Name as an instrument, many really don’t understand it! Why is the Name of Jesus so powerful? What’s in a name anyway? Besides being that word or term that distinguishes a character, a name is a symbol of authority, which means that a name is defined by the character or authority that’s behind it.
The power of the Name Jesus, therefore, isn’t in the spelling or pronunciation of the name J.E.S.U.S; because all around the world, we all don’t pronounce the name the same way. Rather, the reason the name is powerful is the one who answers it. The one whom the Name represents was given all authority in heaven and in earth (Matthew 28:18 ). Jesus Christ is the Name by which all things were created.
John 3:35 says, “The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand.” Colossians 1:15-18 testify of Him as the heir of all things: “Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: For by him were all things created that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.”
God gave Him pre-eminence—superiority over all things! He is before all things, and by Him, all things consist. That’s why His Name is so powerful; it’s not about how the Name sounds; it’s about who He is. He’s the greatest of all; highly exalted above the heavens and His glory above all the earth. Halleluiah
